TRC Playlist: EDM

As stated in my previous post, I mentioned building some playlists aside from my monthly roundups. Today it'll be the sweet genre of EDM as a whole. Most of these genre playlists will be more long term projects but building a nice playlist of some of my favorites over the years has been quite easy. These playlists will be added to moving forward but the meat & bones will be there at the time of posting.  EDM Super Playlist credit: panthernow.com As someone who not only loves music, I love the effects of sound in general. EDM is the most diverse in terms of variance in sound and frequencies blended perfectly together. My introduction to the genre in depth was probably in 2011. Shortly thereafter I stumbled upon Savant in some forums and he definitely shaped my affinity for the craft. Savant essentially does everything and does it so well that when I got the chance to see him in 2014, he mixed like 40 of his songs into a 15 minute hype fest and was the bes...

Reflections And Foresights

Hello hello, internet folks! A bit of an off kind of post, but still on topic for this blog. I've conjured a few ideas for future posts, but these will be more long term "projects" if that's the correct word. Essentially, I'd like to really work more on playlist building. One such playlist will be the 2020 playlist which I plan to release at the end of the year, highlighting songs from each of my monthly playlists. A playlist made of playlists; playception! Included with that will be the entirety of each playlist generated this year. That one's around 150 songs at this point, which doesn't sound like a lot; and it isn't really. If I were to include every song from every album it'd just be a mess, but there will certainly be some goodies added in there as well. Another idea of mine (props if you've made it through this wall of text and are still reading) will be genre specific playlists. It'll take time to build these consi...

June Round Up

Oh wait it's July. This year itself has been going mad fast amidst this pandemic. The weeks come and go and time seems altered. I'm almost more uncomfortable with how time has felt this year than the reason why. Regardless June is done so it's time to wrap up what I've been jamming this month. Kaonashi- I Found No Peace Philly based Kaonashi is a banger! If you like hardcore with a unique voice like Knocked Loose you'll enjoy them for sure. I have to say though, they really bring some interesting stuff in Coffee & Conversation . That intro is reminiscent of melodic bits in ERRA's music. I love 'em both for sure. Abandoned By Bears- Void Filler Abandoned By Bears is a nice summery band to jam to. Heavy hitting melodic pop-punk that always just seems to fit with warm weather. This Day Forward- Writing In Cursive This Day Forward was a post hardcore band from the early 2000's that brings pure energy to th...

Band Of The Month: Confide

What's up? How ya doin'? June's been crazy, and I've been delving into a lot of playlists as well as bumping some of Mays playlist. This won't be too long of a post but let's get into June's band of the month! Ohh a throwback, yes! Confide is my band of the month for June, due to the extreme nostalgia and great sound. Combining good ole hardcore with just the right amount of electronic influence, Confide was one amongst many in the scene during the late 2000's- early 2010's. What separated them from the crowd was their likeability and balancing energy with a potent message. Personally I feel like Confides discography has aged really well. Each release became more refined to their own style all the way up until the end of their tenure together. With 2EPs and 3 Albums there's a good amount to sift through. I highly encourage starting from the oldest releases to the newest as it's a fun journey for sure. Confide was p...

May Round Up

Another month down already? Sheesh. May has been expansive and will probably roll into June, so let's see what I can pick for now with the monthly round up! Dance Gavin Dance- Three Wishes Oh yeah, good ole DGD. Afterburner came out in late April but it wasn't until a week or so later that I gave the whole album a listen. It's phenomenal as anticipated, and Tilian continues to keep the standard high. Three Wishes is exemplary in sound and vibe and was my most played as well as Strawberry's Wake. Nude Shoes- You In January If you've been reading through some of my recent posts, you'll see that I've mentioned Nude Shoes before. This time around is their newest single, a cover of a song originally by The Wonder Years . I love TWY but I think this rendition is better than the original, it's excellent. Worthwhile- Unlovable I'll start this one off with one thing. I bought this album on Amazon and it...

Appreciation Post #4

My good internet folk! It's been a bit since I've posted. It's unnecessary to really push content as this is just for you internet travellers and myself which is all the more reason to make content "well".  I hope that the music is better than how I describe music most of the time but that's why I try to keep things short(er). Anywho let's get into the content! Outline In Color- The Chase Scene This is a saucy one actually, if you're into that sort of thing. The reason why is because my ex-girlfriend introduced me to them about 5 years ago. The Chase Scene was the first song I heard and K.C. Simonsen's clean vocals were like any other in the post-hardcore scene. Note "ex" girlfriend but about 2 years later my friend and I went to see them at a show and afterwards outside we had the chance to chill with them for like half an hour and they were the chillest dudes ever. Heavy vocalist Trevor Tatro as well as K.C. aren't...

Wtf! Music

Eyyo people, I'm back again with a new type of post for this blog. Before I said I had an idea for weird or strange music and now I'm delivering. I can say for sure this will be the most interesting post so far. Some of these you can't really describe that much, so I'll do my best and if it piques your interest be sure to check em out! Let's gooo Passenger of Shit- Staple Tapeworms on my Penis I'll get this one out of the way first because it's the only one that's truly obnoxious. The song starts off with a retro bit style beat and then SCREAMING. REALLY LOUD. It becomes all distorted and it's near impossible to put this under a genre but it's really something. Bang on a Can All-Stars- Meditasi, Head (Feat. Bang on a Can All-Stars) This one starts off as a soft orchestral piece and then turns into some crazy off tempo guitar chords. I found this one through Rock Band and it stood out to me as not your typical song. ...
