March Round Up

Image pulled from: https://greatmovieideas.tumblr.com A month it has been (dare I say March Madness?). No matter where you live I'm sure it's been crazy and I hope everyone does their part in slowing the spread of this virus. Regardless it's been another month of great music and I'm up and ready to see what April has in store. But first, the March Round Up! Jeff Rosenstock- You, In Weird Cities March has been crazy, so for my song of the month there's no better fit than this jam by Jeff Rosenstock. The NY punk rock artist was the vocalist for a few bands before starting a solo career. 2015's We Cool? Is a really fun album to jam to and You, In Weird Cities is no exception. There's a really cool music video for this song where he toured the 5 boroughs of NYC in one day. Peep it here .  The Swellers- The Best I Ever Had Of course the band of the month is in my monthly playlist, definite shocker! The Swellers are superb

Appreciation Post #2

Hello social distancers, I hope you're doing well and virus free. I've been busy with work and animal crossing lately, although I'm off for a week on paid leave next week. Here's a quarantine appreciation post for y'all while I stay 6ft away from folk for a while. Bear Vs Shark- Michigan I love a lot of things from the late 90's and early 2000's, and one of those things is Bear Vs Shark. The Michigan based post-hardcore band has been a longtime favorite of mine. Vocalist Marc Paffi's got such a unique dynamic to his bellowing yells. In all honesty I appreciate the whole album itself as it has such a great and fun feel to it. Confide- Such Great Heights If you've heard of Confide, then perhaps you're in the same boat as me here. Confide was one of many metalcore bands that were around in the late 2000's and trudged into the early 2010's. Such Great Heights is, in my opinion, one of those "anthems"

Band Of The Month- The Swellers

Photo by Steven Matview I have to say I'm impressed. For March my band of the month is a band that I haven't even been listening to for very long. I feel it's a good fit for the first band of the month post. The Swellers were a melodic punk/emo band from Flint Michigan that formed in 2002 and performed their last show on May 1st, 2015. During their time touring they played alongside some great bands such as Four Year Strong, The Blackout, Polar Bear Club, and Anarbor. They've got a lot of heart to them, and I thoroughly enjoyed binging their discography recently. I feel like every album is consistent yet distinguished from one another, and can draw some similarities that bands such as Joyce Manor may have taken influence from later on. They definitely have their place in the scene with bands that they played with. Some songs that stand out to me are: Fire Away By A Thread Call It A Night The Best I Ever Had Big Hearts The Light Under Closed Doors

Review: Tangled Hair- We Do What We Can

First Album Review Post! I wasn't quite ready to write a fuller review on an album, but I stumbled upon a gem I wanted to share. Tangled Hair- We Do What We Can I just found this band recently, and I'm thoroughly hooked and impressed. Tangled Hair is an English indie/math rock band. For fans of Delta Sleep, Tangled Hair brings a bunch of material to the table in just one album. We Do What We Can has quite the expansive range of styles all packed into one. Expect lots of tempo changes as songs like Catalina go from a faint singing, to an all out band jam. It's a great album to hang out and listen to, and kept me intrigued as to what the next part of each song would sound like. My favorite tracks would have to be Yeah, It Does Look Like A Spider and Nao Is My Driver . I don't think I will include a rating system into my reviews, as I'm not sure how well I could review things that I don't like. If I'm to review something, it

Appreciation Post

What is up my good folk? I've got a fresh idea off the press, and by the title you can get a good idea. I'll be sporadically posting a few songs here and there that I especially like. Genres are limitless but sometimes there will be similar themes because some songs just stick for one reason or another. Enjoy! Air Miami- Adidas My Ass In my opinion, Air Miami is one of the best indie rock/pop bands of the 90's. They weren't afraid to experiment and have a lot to offer. During their brief existence, they curated 2 albums mixed with a lot of demos and 1 EP. I highly recommend giving a listen to this album if you enjoy Adidas My Ass.  Bombay Bicycle Club- The Hill First things first, this album is absolutely killer overall. Bombay Bicycle Club has been around for years but personally their first album tops the rest. I don't mean that in a snobby way but The Hill is probably in my top 100, if not potentially top 50 songs of all time. T
